Hanwen is a painter and sculptor living in Chicago, born and grew up in Shanghai, China. She will achieve her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the School of Art Institute of Chicago in 2025. She uses water-based color as her primary medium. Her practice involves the cooperation between the artist and the flowing painting medium. She explores the relationship between seeing and being seen. Her painting is about fragments and the reinvention of her memory with people around her, people who are lost in cities. She considers her painting an expression of sensitive feelings disguised under daily body language and a reconsideration of sexuality and beauty.
